Sumire (@suu_____chan) is a Japanese model and designer who we met on the street in Harajuku after dark. While she didn’t share any brand information other than that her ribbon bag came from her own “SDoll Shop”, the theme of her outfit was “the ideal Japanese pizza shop uniform”. Leave a comment if you’d like to visit a pizza place where the staff all dresses like this! For more of Sumire’s kawaii fashion and Tokyo life, take a look at her Instagram. Tokyo Street Style w/ Asymmetric Tank Top, CONP Shoes & Kimpande Jewelry We often see Noma (@nomaqt) around the streets of Harajuku recently. When we talked with her, she told us that she’s a fashion model currently based in Tokyo (which is why we’ve been seeing her so much), she spends much of her time traveling around the world for her modeling gigs, and she’s originally from Puerto Rico. Her minimalist look on this day featured a one-shoulder olive top with thrift store pants, jewelry from Kimpande and shoes by the Chinese brand CONP Citizen of No Place. Please leave a comment to let us know what you think of Noma’s look and thank you for following.

Harajuku Street Style w/ Horned Cap, Tattoo Top & Person Soul Denim 19-year-old designer Kaiki (@mmdllz) caught our eye on the street in Harajuku because of his horned cap by GenZero. He’s also wearing a vintage oversized jacket over a tattoo top by Hi-Lander, Person Soul wide raw seam zipper pants, and vintage leather boots. His accessories - including the wraparound waist bag, necklace, and silver rings - are all handmade or vintage. Kaiki told us that his favorite designers include Diesel and Balenciaga and he enjoys the music of South Korean girl group Aespa and girl group XG. Please leave a comment and let Kaiki know what you think of his hat, and the rest of his outfit! Thanks for following and have a great day.

Japan celebrates Coming of Age Day (Seijin no Hi) every January. Young Japanese who’ve reached the age of 20 celebrate adulthood by dressing up in traditional kimono or hakama, going to a local ceremony (usually in the town where they graduated from high school), visiting a shrine to take photos, and then partying late into the night with friends. Harajuku is a town of young people, so every year we have a new group of Harajuku Kids turning 20. This year, we went to Meiji Jingu Shrine in Harajuku to photograph the new adults in kimono (including a number of popular Harajuku street style personalities). Please leave a comment to join us in congratulating them on their new adulthood. If you are considering a visit to Japan, Seijin no Hi is still the only day of the year when you’re guaranteed to see large numbers of Japanese people out and about in beautiful kimono. Let us know what you think of the photos and the kimono!! Everyone we know is tagged in the photos. We have more Coming of Age Day kimono photos we’ll try to post soon. Thank you for reading, commenting, and for following. @ticomeba.ito @0rag0m @samaco_in_wonderland @anonil637 @blackmode27 @cupro__1218

Kae (@kae.soga) is a Japanese IT professional, stylist, and photographer whose unique look - including a striking lace nose band - caught our eye on the street in Harajuku. Leave a comment and let us know what you think of his look! Most of Kae’s items are handmade or remakes or items that he created himself - including the nose band, a knit hat, long asymmetrical white top, an accessory made of several bright red belts that he’s wearing like a bag (but it’s not a bag), remake SALTHe pants, remake Eytys shoes, a black Jean Paul Gaultier bag, layered Burberry silver necklaces, a goo necklace, and knit arm covers by Blood Supply. In addition to his IT work and styling, Kae is part of @rubik_snap, a fashion project from Tokyo. Again, please leave a comment and thank you for looking!

We spotted Korean model/club kid/style icon @Catallactics on the street in Harajuku wearing giant metal gloves that made him look like he just walked out of a video game or anime. The gloves are by @aemc888 with a coat by Korean fashion brand Thug Club (from Nubian Harajuku) and horned boots by Thug Club x Fila Korea. The glasses are Oakley Over-the-Tops. Swipe left to see closeups of Catallactics metal gloves, glasses, horned boots, and other items. Let us know what you think of his gloves and one-of-a-kind street style in the comments!

20 street snaps we shot outside of this week’s Balmung (@balmung_tokyo) fashion show in Tokyo. Please leave a comment to let us know which snap(s) you liked the best! Balmung is a cult Japanese fashion brand known for their very original designs and incredible silhouettes. With a designer that came up from the streets of Harajuku, Balmung has been doing its own thing for 14+ years - influencing other brands and trends without compromising their very focused vision. Several years ago, Balmung’s designs served as a major inspiration (for lower tier brands) during the birth of what’s now known as “Jirai Kei” fashion. Balmung was also way ahead of what people now call “Y2K” - creating graphic photo print “tattoo tops”, super wide pants, and other staples long before “Y2K” became a fashion term. Highly influential and defiantly original - while remaining under the radar of much of the mainstream fashion press, especially in the west - there are few Japanese fashion brands that we follow as closely as Balmung. Everyone we know is tagged in the street snaps. If you recognize someone we didn’t tag, please let us know.
