So, the messaging needs to resonate across various nationalities while still adhering to local cultural guidelines. ✅ Having a clear customer persona helps. ⚖️ Audience Geographies: Another challenge that comes with a majority expats - a majority of the influencer’s audiences often originate from their home countries, not UAE. ✅ I rely on multiple tools to analyze the geographic breakdown of each creator’s audiences. ? In-Person: Culturally, Dubai continues to favor ‘in-person’ interactions, contrasting with the global shift toward virtual meetings since the pandemic. ✅ Events, meetups, and physical meetings are the most effective channels for sales. ? Inauthentic Engagement: In my experience, Dubai witnesses an unprecedented surge in bot/bought followers in influencer accounts. Instead of disqualifying influencers with such followers, we evaluate their non-inflated following. ✅ Employing tools to automatically detect the percentage of bot or bought followers has proven invaluable in this context. ?? Fewer Dedicated Microbloggers: Dubai’s unique visa requirements mandate full-time employment for residence. Content creators are juggling their passion alongside a full-time job, while macro-creators who can afford to make a living being an influencer are a small minority. ✅ Brand collaborations need to be structured to incentivise one or the other. ? High Influencer Rates: Dubai has a high cost of living, which influences influencer rates. It’s not surprising that influencers in Dubai often charge up to 40% more than other regions. ✅ Their relevant audience would be the number of followers after removing bot/bought followers and non-UAE followers, that’s the number that we use to evaluate the fair cost for each influencer.
