This luxury Bantry Bay residence has been in the making since 2021. While we usually share the polished final project, it’s also intriguing to see behind the scenes! Now in its final stages, we had the chance to experience the space before its official completion. This house comprises six levels. The ground floor features a garage and double-volume lobby, with domestic quarters on the first floor. The second floor is the heart of living, offering expansive entertainment areas, including a pool and wine room, while the third and fourth floors house private bedroom suites and a study. The top level is a sanctuary of health and wellness, complete with a gym, sauna, steamroom, ice bath and terrace overlooking spectacular views. Every corner reflects the client’s vision – a serene, light-toned palette that flows throughout, and interiors that balance sophistication with ease. The result is a contemporary home that feels calm, airy and indulgent, with every detail echoing a sense of quiet coastal luxury. #workinprogress #constructionunderway #peerutinkarol #peerutinkarolarchitects #behindthescenes #architecture #southafricanarchitects #southafricandesign #southafricanarchitecture #capetownarchitecture #iconicdesign #bantrybay #residentialarchitecture #atlanticseaboard #underconstruction

A visit to the Febal Casa factory and showroom near San Marino – where passion for quality meets precision in design. It's always fascinating to see how things are made. From production to presentation, the attention to detail at this manufacturing plant was evident throughout. A warm thank you to the Colombini team for their hospitality and insight, from Tarryn Cohen and all of us at Peerutin Karol! #PeerutinKarol #TheExcellenceGroup #FebalCasa #Colombini #ItalianDesign #DesignInspiration #ArchitectureAndInteriors #KitchenDesign #ContemporaryDesign #ArchitectsTravel

On a steeply sloping corner site in Bantry Bay, this 2018 family home was designed to feel both welcoming and connected to its dramatic setting. Maximising views of the sea and mountain on a tight corner property, the triple-storey architecture balances openness with comfort – from the entertainment level that flows onto the pool and garden to the upper living spaces framed by light and outlook. ?: Designed by Peerutin Karol ?: Bantry Bay, Cape Town, South Africa #peerutinkarolarchitects #PeerutinKarol #luxuryhome #residentialarchitecture #capetownarchitecture #capetowndesign #homedesign #homeinspo #capehomes #capetownliving #architecture #bantrybay #atlanticseaboard #Capetown #swimmingpool

Terrarium restaurant at the Queen Victoria Hotel was part of a bold transformation of two adjacent office buildings in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Peerutin Karol Architects was commissioned by Newmark Hotels to convert the deep, dark floorplates – originally suited to offices –into a boutique hotel and restaurant. Just like chef Chris Erasmus' culinary aesthetic for Terrarium – a window into nature, with bold, seasonal flavours – so this fine dining restaurant brings a palette of contrast to sophisticated, natural materials while welcoming in the scenic location. Framed views extend across the harbour and city, drawing the eye up toward Table Mountain – a quiet reminder of place beyond the pared-back interior. ?: Designed by @peerutinkarol ?️: Developers @newmarkhotels ?: @theterrarium_restaurant @queenvictoriahotel_cpt Portswood Close, V&A Waterfront @vandawaterfront ?️: Photography @johann.jordaan #peerutinkarol #queenvictoriahotel #terrariumrestaurant #vandawaterfront #capetownrestaurants #hospitalitydesign #restaurantdesign #interiorarchitecture #contemporarydesign #designcapetown #capetownarchitecture #marblefireplace #tablemountainviews #harbourviews #boutiquehotel #southafricanarchitecture #restraineddesign #architecturalmood

Women’s Day is a moment to reflect on why gender equality matters – in life and the workplace. At Peerutin Karol, women make up half of our team. Their insight, creativity and leadership are central to our practice and shape the way we collaborate, design and grow. From Marianna, our Revit wizard and standout project leader, to Anneli, whose meticulous attention to detail never goes unnoticed. Zulaikha leads with excellence, managing our UK outsourcing effortlessly, while Noa brings vibrant energy to the office and is always willing to jump in where needed. Kaylee assists in managing our luxury resort project in the Indian Ocean with confidence and expertise, and Robin is not only a brilliant technologist but also our IT whiz and the glue that keeps us organised. Thandi brings warmth and a fresh creative spark as both our architectural intern and Digital Marketing Assistant, while Sharmaine quietly excels in her role. Inge is a ball of energy, supporting all our projects in Nigeria with enthusiasm. Kelsey’s laugh is contagious, but her dedication and consistency are what truly shine. And Tarryn, our Managing Director, keeps everything running smoothly – her leadership ensures Peerutin Karol delivers at the highest level. We also celebrate Jasmine, Siviwe, and Nash, who handle the essential admin and operations that keep our firm running – roles often overlooked, but vital to everything we do. We believe that investing in women means investing in a stronger, more dynamic future – for our industry and our society. Today, we celebrate the women who inspire us every day. #peerutinkarol #peerutinkarolarchitects #womensday2025 #architects #architecture #southafricanarchitects #southafricanwomen #womensday #womensmonth #architecturefirm #officeculture

On the first day of Women’s Month, we chat to Managing Director Tarryn Cohen – about resilience, team culture, project delivery and the journey toward leadership in architecture. ◾️ As Managing Director, how has your role evolved and what aspects of the practice do you find most rewarding to lead? Since becoming Managing Director my role has changed to more forward planning and looking to the future. It is important that the MD leads the team in the right direction, and to ensure everyone is working as a team. When I see the teams working together to produce great output and a well coordinated project, and they are learning and growing, and our Clients are happy, that is very rewarding to see. ◾️ What are some of the key challenges in delivering large, complex buildings – and how do you approach them? The most important thing in a project like this is the team, and ensuring that tasks and deadlines are clearly defined for each person. This requires daily planning. Communication is also key – people in the team need to talk clearly and openly with each other to ensure that their work is coordinated. ◾️ What do you think makes a practice resilient and future-focused today? We embrace new technologies and software. But to be honest, the most important thing is the people. We are people focused, so when times are tough, or challenging, we come together as a team and find a way to resolve a problem. We also place great importance on planning. By doing this we can see things coming, and this then allows to change course if necessary before the problem comes. ◾️ What advice would you give to architects interested in leadership and management roles within a design practice? It takes years to learn leadership and management. Once has to cut one’s teeth first by starting from the bottom, and doing the tasks that one is given – however boring or seemingly trivial. Then listen and learn to everything around you. Learn from your mistakes along the way. That experience allows you to become a great manager. #peerutinkarol #leadership #architecture #womenswomen #architecturefirm #managingdirector #management #womenleaders

A sweeping spiral staircase anchors a dramatic, light-filled atrium at the Queen Victoria Hotel, where geometric balustrades layer above one another in sharp contrast to the stair’s sculptural form. Striking monochrome shades of timber, marble and Corian define the material palette – bold yet refined – with shadow play and clean lines shaping every detail. Elegant glass chandeliers suspend over a centrepiece grand piano, adding grandeur that is emphasised by the scale of the triple-volume, drawing the eye upward through the space to the skylight above. ?: Designed by @peerutinkarol ?️: Developers @newmarkhotels ?️: Videography @johann.jordaan #peerutinkarol #peerutinkarolarchitects #hotel #vanda #vandawaterfront #capetownwaterfront #capetown #capetownarchitecture #architecture #southafricanarchitects #southafricandesign #southafricanarchitecture #capetownarchitects #architecturefirm #hospitalitydesign #boutiquehotel #lovecapetown #meetsouthafrica #designcapetown #queenvictoriahotel #queenvictoria #ArchitectureDetails #InteriorArchitecture #AtriumDesign #ContemporaryDesign #CapeTownArchitecture #MonochromePalette #DesignInspiration
