Spent a few dreamy nights up at the beautiful @thesafaricollection 's Sasaab Lodge. Location: perched high on a cliff in Samburu, with panoramic views over the Westgate Conservancy. Getting there by chopper (shoutout to @tropicairkenya !) was a ridiculous flex, but even driving in would be worth it for these views. The lodge feels totally remote in the best way, peaceful, breezy, and full safari fantasy unlocked. Accommodation: each villa is massive, with a sunken lounge and private plunge pool overlooking the river. The beds are big and ridiculously comfy, and the showers are almost big enough to host a party in (not that I did, but just saying). No bathtubs, but with views like that, you won’t miss one. Food: this is where they got me. From fresh fish cakes and garden salads for lunch, to slow-cooked short rib and perfectly spiced paneer curries for dinner, everything was thoughtful and delicious. And yes, the desserts were chef’s kiss (sticky date pudding, affogatos, and more where that came from). Vibe & Service: chic, calm, and friendly. The main deck is perfect for sundowners with swinging chairs and cocktails. The team, led by Kyle and Rebecca, are warm, helpful, and lovely without hovering. Wildlife: dik-diks, hyraxes, guinea fowls all roaming around the lodge. Plus, we saw elephants, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes and gerenuks out in the conservancy. And I got to feed a dik-dik named Penny. I mean, come on. Recommend: 10/10. Staying at the stunning Solio Lodge by @thesafaricollection for three nights and honestly… it was everything. Location: tucked between Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, Solio is set on a private conservancy with more rhinos than I’ve ever seen in one place, including babies! The game drives are incredible, and the cars have rooftop seats so you can quite literally ride giraffe-style. Accommodation: the rooms are pure safari-chic. Think floor-to-ceiling glass, massive beds, and a freestanding bathtub with views of wildlife wandering by. Food: every meal was delicious, from creamy tarragon chicken to slow-cooked beef short rib with red wine jus. Service: Warm, friendly, and full of thoughtful touches. The staff are wonderful, always around when you need something, but never in the way.
