In Other Art News So excited to host a Workshop during State Of Black Design Conference In 2022 SAVE THE DATE . #Repost - @omari.souza Allow me to introduce you to my good friend @marryammomaart who will be hosting a collage workshop at the 2022 State of black design conference!! - Tanzanian-Nigerian Marryam Moma is a visual artist who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia. Moma melds the palette of re-purposed hand-cut pieces, paper, and media together into fresh, layered imagery with new associations. At the core of her art practice, Moma aims to empower and uplift the Black Body, especially the Black female body. Unveiling the magic within this race, breaks collective contemporary stereotypes. Thus, changing attitudes and perceptions of Black women, allowing society to re-discover her: Powerful, complex, beautiful, revered, and valuable. Momas hand cut collages are focused on elevating the importance of the Black experience and body. The clarity, discipline, and execution of her work reflects applied strengths from a formal education in architecture. More recently, you will find Momas work in the Starbucks permanent art collection, Southwest Art Center, GA, Kai Lin Art Gallery, GA and many more. Her work has been featured on The Jealous Curator, Pop Science Magazine, XXL Magazine, Atlanta Magazine, Radiant Health Magazine, ART SEEN Magazine, All She Makes Art Magazine and Showfields. Moma’s work is also publicly displayed via DASHBOARD US, in Macon, GA and in West Atlanta, an art installation with The National Black Artists Foundation to uplift the young minds at The Promise Center. It is Momas intention to change the dynamics of how the Black body is viewed in a society that is divisive versus inclusive.
