Listened to this album during my jog this afternoon which is the best element for me honestly to thoroughly take in a project. Like I explained when I reviewed Cole’s album.. I listen from 3 different perspectives. #1 from a fans point of view. #2 from a haters POV. #3 from the point of being THE GAME & someone who knows how to curate & judge classic albums. Before today I’ve heard Baby Keem from afar & listened to him here & there in the past but today I grew to understand who he is as an artist in full. I’ll say that I appreciate this submission into our genre cause it’s not everyday we get conceptual hip hop albums in this climate. My review is mine alone & you are all entitled to your own when time allows. DM your full review once you’ve listened thoroughly. For those commenting below, understand that his vision might not align with your or my feelings & that’s fine because art is most appreciated by the artist before given to the public. Went on a jog for a few hours & listened to J.Cole’s album thoroughly after a debate with the homies about what we should expect & not expect from a project we’ve all been anticipating. Me personally, when I listen to albums.. I listen 3 times back to back. 1st listen is from a fans point of view cause I appreciate Cole’s music from a biased place of appreciation for his art like most people. 2nd I listened from a haters POV so I can purposely try to find things wrong to debate with the fan version of me. Plus I wanted him to fight with both hands up in that beef. Lastly, I listen from the position of his peer/competitor & someone who has classic albums as well & knows how to put together full conceptual projects from start to finish. That way, I can review & analyze from all sides. Above in the screenshots are my thoughts as I ran around LA with my headphones on locked in. These are just my opinions. Above all, I appreciate the art of hip hop & use albums to fuel me as I near completion of my own. I enjoy rap from every spectrum & wanted to leave this here with one of my favorite verses from “THE FALL-OFF” I’m headed to studio, enjoy y’all’s weekend.
