Josie girl is 5! She is the "little mama" of the younger 3 and takes her role VERY seriously. She loves babies and barbie's and hair and makeup and clothes. She takes pride in cleaning and organizing. When asked what her she thinks her spiritual gifts are, she said "listening and focus." And she's totally right. Josie is cool, calm and collected, until she's not. ? We love you Josie Grace, Happy Birthday!

I didn't anticipate writing a caption about marriage and decision making, to go along with this short from our 1st annual "Farris Family Fun Day" before going back to school. But here we are. I was talking to someone recently about making big decisions and God's will for our lives. When you love God, you want so badly to be in his will. Even small decisions feel incredibly weighty. Anxiety comes, you second guess yourself and even God, at times. But God tells us so clearly his will for our lives, to be holy - to be set apart and sanctified. So which decision transforms your heart into the likeness of Christ? I believe God is more concerned with our sanctification than our circumstances. What does this have to do with marriage? For me, everything. When I got married at the ripe and dumb age of 22, I was guilty, unknowingly, of using marriage as my means of justification. Marriage was something that validated me. And because I used marriage as my means of validation, not Christ, the journey of sanctification has been roughh. But, marriage by far, has been the thing that's brought Josh and I closer to the heart of Jesus and therefore, eachother. I could look back and say that life would have been much easier if we waited to have kids, or waited longer to be married. But I truly believe that the big decision of marrying early is what God has used to purify my heart. Does God want you to get married young? Maybe, will it sanctify you? Does God want you to be single? Maybe, will it sanctify you? Does God want you to take the big job? Maybe, but will it sanctify you or only make you more comfortable? Will staying at your current job mold your heart more into the likeness of Christs'? Does God want you to have another child? Maybe, will it sanctify you or, are only seeking to find further validation in your motherhood? I don't know what big decision you face, but God says in 1 Thessaolians 4 how to please him with your life, and what his will is for you. "For this is the will of God, your sanctification.."

Josh and I had a meal at @crescentcityatl, and every single course from appetizer to entrée was delicious. Different, but so very good. It reminded me how tempting it is to rush past the beginning. To treat the early or formative parts of life as "just the appetizer" and crave the main event. But in the kingdom of God, there are no throwaway courses. No fillers. The life I live at home with these 5, the laundry, the lunches, the discipline, is not just preparation for the real work of ministry. It is the real work. Just like the appetizer was just as incredible as the main dish, this season is just as rich, just as sacred as any to come. Only ten percent of an iceberg shows above the surface. The rest is hidden, steady, rooted, and unmoved. That’s what God builds in the unseen. "In moments when I am tempted to treat this gift called time as though it were some unfortunate filler, I hear a gentle whisper from God in my soul: ‘Child, I am the God who wastes no man’s time. To me, every course in your life is main.’" — Alicia Britt Chole, Anonymous God wastes no persons time. Every course counts. Every season shapes.

Paul was whipped five times with 40 lashes. Yet, I had the pure joy of doing ministry at @womenevolve this weekend. It’s not lost on me that at any moment, God could call those of us who love Him to also suffer for His name. This time, He let me serve through the laughter, questions, and wide-eyed wonder of 6th–12th grade girls. What a gift! As a mom of four daughters, leading the girls @womenevolve felt right! Seeing some girls who were on the fence about going all in, hear the Truth of scripture and others leaning in toward the fire of faith. I’m deeply grateful. Josh and I even got a few rare overnights without kids. ??? We embraced the “whatever we feel like next” kind of freedom, and landed in bed at 5pm. ?? + had a few FANTASTIC meals, a scary drive with no driver @waymo, and got to hang out with my cousins who were also speaking @womenevolve + ended the weekend engulfed in God's presence @2819church. Leaving this weekend praying the girls and women who were there will be forever marked by the gospel of Jesus Christ, His life-saving and life-changing power. Scroll to the last slide to see me bringing Roxie‑energy nap skills to a whole plane of strangers, captured in 4k by my husband. ?

Ad Camp may feel like an escape, but let’s be real public WiFi doesn’t care if you’re in the middle of nowhere or not. Anytime you connect to WiFi that’s not your own, you’re opening a digital door and public networks? They’re basically a playground for hackers. That’s why I use @nortonsecurity. It gives me a secure VPN that encrypts what I do online, even while I’m at camp checking the schedule, uploading photos, or using the app to find which lake activity my kid just disappeared to. I may be “off-grid,” but my info isn’t. Norton keeps me protected, on the road, or deep in the woods with 5 kids and 20 snack wrappers. If you’re heading out with your crew this summer, take Norton with you. Protection you don’t have to think twice about.

This weekend, I had the honor of speaking at Desperate for Jesus, a conference my grandmother Lois began 21 years ago. This year’s theme was Legacy, and I was able to see it in living color as my mom, my aunt, and I all shared the platform. It was an honor I don't take lightly. "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness James 3:1 A few months after my grandmother passed away, I went to hear Tracee Ellis Ross speak at an Oprah conference. She talked about her mother, Diana Ross. She said that as incredible and iconic as we know Diana Ross to be, Diana is 100x more the mother and woman than we can see on a stage. That’s been my prayer, my ultimate desire. To be 100x more the wife, more the mother, more the faithful servant than what could ever be seen from a stage. Whether on a stage or in the car with my kids, I can’t help but preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Undeserving as I am, He’s given me a fire I can’t keep to myself. So if you take one thing from me from this weekends conference let it be this: Fan the flame of the gifts God has given you. For the benefit of His people and the glory of His name. Leave a legacy worthy of a holy, sincere faith-filled genealogy. (1 Tim. 1:6) Clips are from DFJ and Saturday morning camp pick up! The gang is back together again. ?

My girl Roxie turned 3 on Friday! Effortlessly cool, a girls girl, confident, joyful, SO much fun, the life of the party, articulate, energetic and delightful. Named after a great-aunt and my spunky great-grandmother Evelyn, she takes after her first name with more accuracy than I could have imagined. It is a joy and a priveledge to show her the love of Jesus while staying on my KNEES praying he uses all of her zeal for life for his glory! Happy Birthday Foxy Roxie!
